So how does TravelCritix make money?

TravelCritix is financed mainly via referral fees. We get a small % commission when users click through an affiliate link and make a purchase.

How do you find deals?

We browse the internet and search for the best travel offers from many airlines, travel agencies, cruise companies, hotel booking sites etc. We have several years experience doing this and we only recommend deals that we would book ourselves.

What makes you different from other deals sites?

We mainly differ from other deals sites for two reasons.

We always put the consumer’s interest first. If we see a great travel offer, we will publish it even if there is no direct benefit to us. Other sites only publish deals they can make money from. In many cases they make arrangements behind the scenes involving lots of cash, which is why you always see the same merchants being mentioned. We are 100% transparent when it comes to how we make money. You will always see a monetised link marked with an asterisk (*) on our site.

Secondly, we consider ourselves to be more of a travel community portal than a simple deals site. Other websites want passive users. We encourage participation through our forum. We want our members to join dicussions and give their opinion.

TravelCritix is a travel forum. So, as long as the topic is travel-related and you follow the house rules, you can write about pretty much anything you want.
Airlines, trains, buses, hotels, loyalty programmes, cities, countries, travelling on a budget, health and safety issues, customs and visas, etc. are all valid topics. Remember to be respectful of others, always keep on-topic and do not turn conversations into a chat room.

Why is it important to upvote/downvote?

We believe the most democratic way for good answers to stand out and poor answers to fall to the bottom is through voting. Voting is key to the idea of providing quality answers and questions. Please remember that you have to be registered to vote, and you can only vote once with each answer.

Can I recommend a product, service or brand?

We want our users to share their opinions as consumers of products and services. If, say, you had a great experience flying business class with a particular airline and want to write about it, then that is fine. Or if another user asks a question about the best company covering a specific route, and the answers contain airline, train… recommendations, this is also ok.
However, we discourage content that is sponsored or represents advertising, spam or promotions. We reserve the right to remove any content that breaches this rule.

Simply enter your origin and destination and it will calculate the fastest and cheapest way to get there for each possible choice of transport. Click on the red buttons to book a ticket or find out a departure timetable if online booking is not possible.

We are a travel content site and we do not take bookings or payments of any kind. We simply refer you to airlines, hotels, car hire companies, travel agencies, etc to where you can make a purchase and do not hold any personal details. This means your booking is with them, not TravelCritix. You must contact the service provider with any questions regarding changes, cancellations or refunds.

The price you display is different from the actual price

The prices we display are correct at the time of publishing. However, prices fluctuate for many reasons, including demand and floating currencies. Within a couple of minutes, a bargain can get more expensive (or cheaper). We do not have any influence on prices. Thus we cannot guarantee that you will find the exact same tariff.

If you see a travel deal marked as “Expired”, it is highly unlikely you will be able to get it at the price it was originally published.

What is the best way to get a good deal?

Most deals are only available for a short time. The price can change swiftly, especially if there is great demand. We strongly recommend you follow us on social media to find out first-hand about all the latest travel offers we publish.

Can you help me book a plane ticket so that I can go visit my grandmother this Christmas?

No, sorry. We do not have the resources to handle such individual requests.
